I'm Jeff Alexander, a Senior Software Engineer at Jama Software — a US citizen working remotely on Pacific Time. 8 years in, my craft is building software that holds up — backend systems in Java and Spring Boot, frontend features in React, and complex data models across MySQL, ArangoDB, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.

Most of my leverage lately comes from AI-assisted, spec-driven agentic development. It's the biggest shift in how I build software in my career — changing how I approach requirements, testing, and delivery.

I think in systems and build with a quality mindset. Requirements, test automation, data pipelines — and a garden is a system too. I spend weekends on homesteading, food forests, and permaculture, which turns out to be excellent training for software architecture.
